DIY GIANT SWISS ROLL

Swiss roll’s are an all time favorite snack. The idea of oversizing one and eating it as a cake, of course was not our own, is genius! From a solid review of great pastry chefs we realized this cake is quite simple to make. All you need is a chocolate sponge cake, whipped cream, and a chocolate coating and you’ve done it. You’ve made the most glorious cake that will make you the biggest hit at a party.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl separate yolks and whites. Using hand mixer, whisk egg whites to form peaks.

  2. In a large bowl beat yolks with sugar, then mix in dry ingredients until combined.

  3. Bake for 10 minutes at 425F until spongy.

  4. Let the cake cool briefly and roll it into the parchment paper while still warm for it to keep it shape without cracking.

  5. Create your whipped cream by beating your ingredients in a stand mixer until soft peaks are formed. About 5 minutes.

  6. Fill the frosting into the cake and roll up.

  7. Place a cooling rack over parchment paper and place your cake on top.

  8. Make your ganache by melting butter and milk together on a stove top. Once boiling take it off the heat and gradually add in your chocolate. Stir until smooth and the temperature decreases to not too hot too touch.

  9. Pour ganache on top. Use a spoon to get chocolate into the sides. Cool for 20-30 minutes before serving.
